Art and Design Public Lecture ‘GEOLOCALIZATION’ by Frédéric Martel

(The lecture will be conducted in English)

Frédéric Martel is a French writer, researcher and journalist.  His most famous books are The Pink and the Black, Homosexuals in France since 1968 (1996), Mainstream (2010) and In the Closet of the Vatican (2019), a New York Times bestseller.  Since 2020, he has been Professor at the Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland.

In this lecture, Prof. Martel will discuss the complex interactions between the digital transition, which creates a sort of deterritorialization, and the ecological transition, which seems to be moving in the opposite direction. In fact, there is no good digital transition and no bad globalization per se.  Digital and global are neither good nor bad in themselves for art and culture – they depend on what we do with them.
