Department Overview

The Department of Art and Design offers programmes with emphasis on both the management and business aspects as well as the creative and entrepreneurial cores of education and training in the cultural and creative industries and sectors. The department focuses on the academic as well as industrial significance accorded to the study, research and applications of the relationships between arts, culture, business and technology.

 

The major strengths of our programmes are our integrative and multi-disciplinary curriculum, different methodologies and approaches, experiential learning and interaction, as well as network with local and overseas industries and institutions. Our faculty members possess both local and international background and qualifications in art and design, architecture, film and media, history and theory, cultural management, comparative literature, as well as branding and communication.  The department is member of European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) with 250 members in 47 countries.  Students have ample opportunities and wide contacts in international collaboration, internship and exchange. 

 

In the creative nexus of globalization and digitalization, our graduates will contribute to our community as they become professionals as art and design creators or project managers, cultural event and venue managers, product and service designers, business development executives, or entrepreneurs in the digital culture, technology, and economy.
