Workshop on Cultural Heritage Management – The Role of International Organizations and China in Cultural Heritage Management of the Belt and Road Zones

Workshop on Cultural Heritage ManagementTHE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND CHINA IN CULTURAL HERITAGE MANAGEMENT OFTHE BELT AND ROAD ZONES to be held on 10 May 2021 (Monday). The workshop is fully supported by the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) administered by the Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Project No. IIDS14-H03-19). It is co-organized by the Department of Social Science and the Department of Art and Design, the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and Contemporary China Research Center, Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

 

Details of the workshop are as follows:

 

This workshop will feature a keynote address by Dr Richard Engelhardt, Former UNESCO Regional Advisor in Culture for Asia and the Pacific, with a historical perspective onregional cultural diplomacy and an introduction of the Cultural Heritage SiteManagement Competency Framework he is developing for some Belt and Road countries. A second keynote address will be given by Dr. Chin Ee Ong of Sun Yat-sen University of Zhuhai to introduce the role of China in cultural heritage management of the Belt and Road Zones. This will be followed by open discussion of all participants.The workshop will be moderated by Prof Desmond Hui of HSUHK.
