Fundamental Concepts and Skills – Online Exhibition of Student Works

AD1001 Studio I: Fundamental Concepts and Skills introduces art and design as an exploratory process of inquiry and experimentation, which involves acquisition of knowledge and skills to conceptualize, resolve and present well reasoned and developed ideas through sketching, drawing, and modelling with different media and means of communication and expression. 1. Logo and Branding

The first assignment in Semester 2 will continue with the city reference from Invisible Cities (students will be regrouped and assigned a new city) and students are to design the logo and branding to represent their city – Baucis, Irene and Sophronia. 2. Brand Products

3. Brand Display

In this third assignment, students are to continue with your brand concept to design a window display for your product. Students should apply their research and analyses of the city and through design thinking, interpret a display design unique to the product and branding of this city.

4. Multi-media City Brand

In this final assignment, students are to continue with their brand concept to design a multi-media presentation for your city. Students should apply their research and analyses of the city and through design thinking, interpret a multi-media design unique to the logo, product display and branding of this city.

In response to the pandemic since 2019, this last phase of interpreting Calvino’s invisible cities challenges students to include the following in their imagination and communication of their vision of the future post-pandemic city in their design projects: Objects, words, sounds and images (and the linking of all four categories with a video).
